"So You Think You're a Success"
Joshua 1:8
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

make it plain on tablets,
so he may run who reads it.

I. THE REASON FOR OBEDIENCE
The dictionary meaning of obedience: “To respect, to honor, to listen, to pay attention, etc.”
A. Obedience is really surrender—Eph. 6:1
(Obedience to parents is the greatest of needs today)
B. Obedience is law-abiding—Prov. 23:22
(Children obedient to parents are seldom disobedient to others)
C. Obedience brings faithfulness—Prov. 10:1
(Obedient children bring joy to their parents)
D. Obedience brings duty—Mark 7:10
(The Bible is very strict about disobedience)
E. Obedience brings service—Col. 3:20
(Obedience is not only pleasing to parents, but God too)
II. THE RESPECT OF OBEDIENCE
A. Obedience brings long life—Deut. 5:16
(Each disobedient child is a candidate for prison)
B. Obedience brings courtesy—Prov. 8:32
(Blessed are those who keep God’s ways)
C. Appreciation comes from respect—Prov. 6:20–22
(Lack of appreciation shows lack of respect)
D. Praise will come through respect—Prov. 20:11
(An obedient child brings praise to his parents)
E. Blessings comes through respect—Prov. 10:5
(A child either brings blessing or shame to the parents)
III. THE REWARD OF OBEDIENCE
A. Will keep His word—1 Kings 3:14
(Follow the paths of your parents, and the saints of God)
B. Long life—Ps. 91:16
(Live long, and will show us His salvation)
C. Will fear God—Prov. 10:27
(Will fear God and have long life)
D. A good life—Eph. 6:3
(A good enjoyable, respected life when we obey)
Disobedience is the root of all sins! Learn to obey daily. It’s better to obey than to be sorry
And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed. Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. GOD, your God, is with you every step you take.”
